huh? The minutemen were entirely self armed. Anyone who travelled outside the city boundaries went armed, for protection against wild animals if nothing else. I haven't seen any studies, but I would venture to say that gun ownership in 1787 was much more prevalent than today.

Personally, I'm glad my neighbor can't legally own a nuclear bomb. But what the posts leading up to this were addressing is how that restriction is consistent with a strict interpretation of the 2nd amendment. If you truly believe that there shall be no infringement on the right to bear arms, and want that restriction taken literally, you have to allow your neighbor to have his nuclear weapon.
