OK, this is precisely why I don't favor privatization of roads as some Libertarians call for. Also, I think the Constitution calls for the gov't to build and maintain a road system for the Post office. Every person needs roads, even (especially) the person who never comes out of their house. But this argument is less applicable to air travel. I'm also not sure how much more expensive air travel would be. The market will bear what the market will bear, and I don't think a prudent business ever charges a penny less.
