You're extrapolating from an inadequate time base. Instead of siting down a line of history from the past 30 years, you need to go back a bit farther, say 2000 years or so.

Father Terrence predicts that by 2200 today's christianity will be smaller than the Mormons.

Grammar note: Both Christianity and Mormon should be capatalized.
