mb, good point - do you have any data to back it up? not that i don't believe you, b/c it makes sense. i'd just like to get a feel for relative % public company ownership from then to now. iow, has it doubled, tripled?

some of this point's slack is taken up by the huge difference in numbers. how much is unknown until we can compare % changed.

anyway, manias send economics into the round file. the higher the price, the more folks value it, all else being equal. i do know that bay area folks are very thankful for the generosity of investors everywhere.

in warren buffet's words, they are having a great time monetizing shareholder ignorance. well, until they shop for a house. advertised "fixer uppers" are $300k in mid rent/own districts.

we live in interesting times. looking back in 10 years will be very interesting.

will csco be worth america's annual gdp? will fixer upper's in the bay area be worth $1.5 million? will companies continue to issue stock in lieu of raises? time will tell...
