Oversimplification ....

1) In hard times people work hard
2) This hard work makes the future easier
3) In easy times people take it easy
4) This ease makes the future harder
5) To to 1

I don't envy the the experiences of the generation(s) which faced two major world wars, a few minor wars, the depression, the Civil war, and the Revolution. I doubt that cholera, plague, drought, flood, locusts, earthquakes, hurricanes, and slavery were much of a picnic to endure either. Our forefathers were a hardy lot to get us this far. What hardships do we face today: static cling, split ends, and loose dentures? It's simple really, as a society, we've ascended, peaked, and are now declining. We aren't the first, and won't be the last to experience this cycle.

Cheers, PW.
