I have similar problem.I need an inexpensive cellphone for teenager. But I would much rather get a 1x capable cellphone for me and give my existing cellphone to the kid. (I could just wait for the 1x technology to actually deploy since 1x is backwards compatible). Anyone have any idea when 1x cellphones might actually be available in US?
