I dont think that 1x phones are just around the corner in the US. Leap had a presentation where their CTO talked about the implementation dates for 1x....he stated that basestations should be available in a year, and handsets during the 2nd half of 2001 or early 2002. This is exactly what the Nokia/MOT CC's stated....
