Petz, sorry to jump in, but...
<... AMD has been trying to build up the chipset operation and can't find the employees instantly. >

Instantly? What were those employees doing
since March 1997, after finishing the AMD-640 chipset?
www1.amd.com

BTW, were there any volume product based on 640?
If not, why?

Why relations with VIA have been deteriorating since
then?

<The chipset employees are getting sick of overtime.>
Why would the overtime be necessary? Due to poor
planning again? Or perhaps due to something else?

If a design is thoroughly verified,
fabbed even elsewhere but fully electrically
characterized, properly packaged, and electrically
matched at board level with own processors, why the
overtime? Why Gategate, Socket-Slot_compatibility_gate,
or Other_infrastructure_gates??? Poor resource and
staff planning, is not it?

<Maybe you could step in and help.>
For someone to step in, somebody should step down
(or out), don't you think? And to be of any "help"
today, it should be done at least two years ago.

Sorry for intrusion,
- Ali
