a chart i feel the need to share - US personal savings. perfectly negatively correlated with the stock market bubble:


I don't think buying stock counts as savings according to these statistics but that is what people put there IRA and 401K money in to. The real rate of savings might be down, but the rate of people getting savings accounts and CDs is down a lot more, so I'm not how much those statistics really
reflect how much people are saving.
