Pure unadulterated, typical CSCO rhetoric.

It's so obvious when you read the interview that Russo is basically saying we are not in the game right now but somehow we will find a little niche at SOME POINT in the future.

"And if CSCO investors are dissappointed, they shouldn't be BECAUSE this was CSCO's strategy all-along and it was just POOR COMMUNICATION!"

Wow, talk about rationalization. Why don't they just say that optics & Carrier market is a market they don't reall understand (EVEN TODAY) and THAT is why they missed the boat?

I guess CSCO can't do that because then the share price would fall and they won't be able to buy their way into the optics space.

The only chance I see for them is to buy a company like Ciena or ALA. That would leapfrog them into the market very quickly. Considering that these mature vendors have real revenue, real infrastructure, real relationships/experience, it always puzzled me as to why CSCO doesn't just grab one of the networking vendors.

Part of the reason is probably caused by their arrogance that leads them to believe that they can conquer any new market if they so disired simply by piece of technology here & there........the problem with this approach is of course that CSCO has such a gaping hole that buying a start up company here & there is not going to provide them with the unified, integrated optics/wireless technology platform to be taken serious by the Carriers.
