KCI.V (news release) King Communications International Limited 8/14/00 - Awarded US$225,000 Purchase Requisition from a US Federal Agency KING COMMUNICATIONS INTERNATIONAL LIMITED ("KCI-V") - Awarded US$225,000 Purchase Requisition from a US Federal Agency King Communications International Limited ("King") is pleased to announce the receipt of a third purchase requisition in the amount of US$225,000 from a US Federal Agency for Project 25 digital repeater and base station equipment. The three awards total nearly US$700,000.
King previously announced the verbal commitment for orders of C$1 million by June 30, 2000. However, due to unanticipated construction delays at some of the Federal Agency's sites, two-thirds of the verbal commitment has been deferred, possibly until late August or September. "We are very optimistic about the new system requisition, " stated Wayne Stephenson, VP of System Sales for King. "In addition to this Federal Agency, we have been working closely with numerous other agencies of the U.S. Department of the Interior with the goal of generating orders for the narrowband radio equipment in the near future. Our product development has greatly expanded during the past few months and now includes Project 25 narrowband digital mobile radios, transportable tactical repeaters, and compact desktop base stations."
Upon completion of this third requisition King will have placed 55 units with a total sales value of US$650,000 in four US states. This particular US Federal Agency has operations in all 50 US states and King is working to provide products and services in the remaining 46 states. King is the incumbent supplier as no other supplier of Project 25 products has had the opportunity to deliver to this agency.
Mr. Wayne Stephenson continued, "King has been working closely with four US federal agencies, one of the largest railroad companies in the United States, and with one of the most populated states. The entire King product line is relevant to US federal and state agencies and major corporations in their move from analogue to digital radio and wireless communications. King's personnel are highly regarded in the field, as for example, King was recently appointed to conduct product-training courses for technical services personnel of the US Bureau of Land Management, one of the largest federal agencies in the United States."
Bob Geaghan, director of King, stated, "The recent sales requisition and training appointment confirm King's stature in the multi-billion dollar APCO Project 25 analogue to digital radio communications industry in the United States."
King was one of six companies including Motorola, awarded with the authority to sell line items on the US Department of the Interior (DOI) five-year, $1 billion tender. In this regard, King was granted specific authority to sell 24 of about 100 line items. All federal government agencies have been mandated to purchase Project 25 narrowband digital radio equipment, and many are using the DOI contract as their procurement vehicle.
King's product line has expanded significantly during past months and now includes mobile radios equipped with all major transmission protocols; fixed and portable repeaters and control stations; and accessories such as mobile data terminals, automatic vehicle location systems; and global positioning systems. SmartLink switches are integrated with King's proprietary products and allow transparent and seamless wireless communication between multiple radio protocols, frequencies and sites over local and/or wide area networks.
