You are obviously a man because of your
statement:

"The whole idea is that the test would be covered by insurance because it reduces the need for biopsies. However if it doesn't reduce the need for a biopsy, then what's the point? Medicare won't cover it and it becomes a useless procedure."

Although CTI is marketed as an adjunct to mammography,
it will probably replace it when it receives FDA approval.
Why? Because of the pain many women have to suffer
during the exam (and many elect not to at all); because mammography is a primitive
way to detect breast cancer (see the post on this
board containing the S.F. Chronicle article).
Not covered by insurance? At $60/image as opposed
to $145 or more for a mammogram? Huh?

Given that many women would choose this breast
examination method over an ineffective and
antediluvian one that is currently in place
is reason enough.

Me thinks you are heavily vested in the way
things are... (a mammogram tech?
a radiologist?)

Well, the way things are now in
breast cancer detection aren't good ENOUGH!
