Kaka - about a year ago, I pointed out that DELL's sales were heavily concentrated in the english-speaking countries - North America and the UK particularly - and that the conquest of the desktop market in the US meant that they were that much closer to saturation, unless they could build business in the non-english European countries and Asia. Everyone here talks about the growth in Asia but the absolute numbers are weak - DELL just made it into the top 10 last year. While it is fashionable to lambaste DELL's European management, it may be that a different model is needed there - given that they have never had the kind of success outside the UK that they have in the US, maybe even great management could not have shown the needed growth.

But no matter what happens in desktops, the real story is servers. DELL ought to be growing that business at twice the market rate, not a few points ahead of the market, if they are to shift their revenue into servers.

I suspect we are range-bound for another quarter, at least until the next round of IDC numbers comes out. And at a lower range than last quarter.
