Would like to thank all the contributors on the thread. I've spent the last week reading the last 1000 or so posts trying to get myself up to speed. I hope to get to the point where I can make some valuable contributions here.

A few questions:

Does anyone know who manufactures the opto-electric converters that would be required to utilize FTTH?

I've been reading a lot about how HDTVs high bandwidth requirements will pull demand for FTTH or FTTC, but it seems to me that HDTV will only appeal to a very small segment of the market. The video improvement with plain ole DTV is not much, but noticeable from my understanding, and the audio improvement is substantial. Given the much lower cost and bandwidth usage, my feeling is that HDTV will only be of consequence to the high end audio/videophiles. Any thoughts?

thanks,

enam
