How much gold is being bought by countries? Very little it appears. In my book the witholding of gold sales does not amount to a subsidy. In fact the Washington Agreement is IMO a negative for gold because it institutionalises the sale of net 400 tons per year - so if a country covered by the agreement buys 200 tons it would appear that it means that the 15 CBs have a licence to sell 600 tons.
