"The Stupid Party" at work.

They have all these businesses being "lost" to estate taxes.

Very strange. How many attorneys out there have prepared innumerable buy/sell agreements for their small business clients?

Is this due to fear of estate taxes? No, it is because the elderly widow DOES NOT WANT TO CONTINUE THE BUSINESS.

The reason businesses are not passed down is NOT the estate tax, it is because THE HEIRS DON'T WANT THE BUSINESS, THEY WANT CASH!
