Edwards & Magee on the importance of volume behind breakouts of symmetrical triangles (applies to both the Dow and IBM here, as the second half of a diamond is considered a symmetrical triangle in both pattern and volume): "It is ... essential that an upside break in price be confirmed by a marked increase in trading volume; lacking volume, do not trust the price achievement." It would seem that we have a high probability of failure here.
