slacker, ruffian, others: Any comments on KDDI's upcoming plans?

Have you come across any recent assessment of KDDI's prospects? Yes, they are selling some really cool phones (Informal chats with salespersons in stores seem to indicate that Hitachi is the current market leader with big screen and all; Casio G-shock, Sony, Sanyo, Toshiba etc. (all 64kbps providers) are doing well in IDO/DDI and street side stores), however what're the future plans of this carrier? They've announced plans to adopt cdma2000 and 1xEV (HDR)... but lack of technology was never their problem. Would they always be a step behind DoCoMo in marketing their products (despite having better technology in their hands)?

Would appreciate any insight into what your crystal ball holds for KDDI, over, say, the next two years... Of course integrated multimedia, GPS apps, games, connectivity tools, higher connection speeds etc. are anticipated... but am more interested in how they're planning on countering similar offerings through DoCoMo? All it took was i-mode on measly 9.6kbps to knock the socks off their sales...

Thanks,
SRoy
