DRAM manufacturers united tonight and told Rambus that they will no longer make SDRAM, DDR or RDRAM products because they consider the payment royalties to the inventors to be contrary to their normal business operations. The leader of the DRAM coalition (BILOW) has brought together the top ten manufacturers of memory in the world in a new rendition of "we ain't going to pay no damn royalties".

A spokesman for RAMBUS said as long as "they do not infringe our patents I guess we have nothing to complain about but we would like to collect royalties on what they have already sold."

Production is set to cease at all factories worldwide this Friday. Plans are in effect to use EDO RAM and SRAM as replacements.

INTEL responded to this sweeping announcement by stating that it thought that the DRAMURAI were making a business mistake but they would make do with ferromagnetic memory cores from Hong Kong. They also stated that this should have no effect on their earnings since their capital gains from shorting the Dram companies stock would more than make up for the shortfall in operating revenue for the foreseable future.

A Rambus spokesmen when asked to comment on Intel's plans to short the Dram companies said he thought it was only logical and that he would present this capital gains option to the RAMBUS board of directors. He said that he thought this might be the opportunity of the century to buy all these companies and their memory manufacturing capabilities with the capital gains made from shorting their stock.
