mepci, re Asians/Euros having lived with Asians for several years, i understand some of these issues to which you imply. there remains a level of prejudice. even so, with Dell Asia, it is Asians selling to Asians; only the name is US. the Chinese are just as conscious of quality as anyone. Legend, the top selling brand in Asia, actually started in Taiwan - so many Chinese Govt. mainlanders, I assume, give Legend systems lowered buying preference as long as tension remains bw Taiwan and the mainland. much of Dell's early sales in China came from Govt. purchases. they must have liked Dell's support - with 86% growth per annum. Dataquest reported yesterday evening that China is now Asia's #1 mobile handset market - ahead of Japan. This means that China is only about 6 million from surpassing the U.S. as #1 in the world. They'll easily do that within the next twelve months. The Chinese market is bigger and able to afford more than most realize I think.
