that is true, especially with regards to stocks - all the sentiment indicators have been spending time at never before seen extremes lately. what used to be considered an overbought sell signal, is now an oversold buy signal, that's how bad it is. of course this excessive and long period of unmitigated bullishness will be unwound at some point, along with the asset bubble.

interestingly, both the public and the 'experts' (i.e. investment advisors) are about twice as bullish NOW as they were with the Dow 70% lower. goes to show that the ultimate fundamental of the market remains emotion - everything else is secondary.

EDIT: "lately" refers to the past 6 months...
