Re:Is K7 still a foil?

Today is August 15. Yesterday Jerry hailed the one year anniversary of the Athlon. Who was it who posted endless messages that "June is coming", well before June of 1999? It was someone who kept posting that message over and over and over and .... Do you have any idea who that could have been?

Hint. He signed his messages Scumbria.

And why did Jerry pick August 14 as the anniversary date. Could the June date have been in error? Could the individual who was posting the endless "June is coming" messages have been a teensy weensy bit premature?

Hint. Even Jerry thinks June of 1999 was premature as the release date for the Athlon.

Scumbria, you are an indefatigueable proponent of AMD. Lord knows that Intel has had its share of ohmigoshes this past year, but AMD has quite an extensive history of problems too. You are confident that AMD is out of the valley of the shadow of death and destined for at least a couple of years of good returns. I personally feel that the bad habits of both Intel and AMD will take a bit longer to exorcise. You won big with a gutsy gamble on AMD. Your timing was impeccable and you came up big. I congratulate you again, as I have in the past, on that.

However, you were so rabid, consistent, persistent and single minded in your support of AMD that it was hard for many intellabees to get any solid information out of your "June is Coming" posts. Lately, you seem to be a sore winner.

IMHO, you are as guilty of endless boosterism as many of the intellibees. And yes, there was a lengthy period when the K7 was more promise than product, and that period was before and beyond June of 1999. Now it's certainly shipping in volume and I haven't heard any "foil" comments about it for a long time.

Good investing,
Burt
