Wow. Acetone eats syringes. Did you have a ground-glass syringe? Did you figure out the optimum amount of acetone for the air contained?

I didn't build a cannon. I might have to rectify that omission now. (I really like your projectiles. Denim wadcutters.) What I DID do is take quart soda bottles and calculate (by molar ratio) the right amount of liquid ether needed to fill the bottle with optimum mix. When I got it right (and I was gratified that my numbers were good), the bottle emitted this sharp whistling woof. Too rich or too lean and the combustion event was much quieter.
I tried this in a plastic gallon milk jug and split it. Whoom! Got my mama concerned enough that she actually dared open the basement door and inquire as to my health. "I'm fine, Ma!" <buzzzz>
