Gardener has some kind words to say about CPQ Tuesday August 15 6:11 PM ET Compaq Launches Internet Appliance By PETER SVENSSON, AP Business Writer dailynews.yahoo.com From the article: Analyst Richard Gardner at Salomon Smith Barney said the announcements were positive, especially the Research In Motion agreement, which gives Compaq a cut of the monthly service fees for the pagers. ``This fits in quite nicely with what other PC vendors are trying to do, which is to complement PC profits with some kind of beyond-the-box profit,'' Gardner said. ---------- Gardner said the move to appliances was a natural one for PC makers, who don't want to see a new market snatched away by upstarts. Compaq is better suited than most to take advantage of the changing market, he said, because the appliances rely on the powerful network computers known as servers to do the heavy work, and Compaq has a strong presence in that market.
