NTAP beats views by penny, yet shares slide.

Network Appliance (NTAP: news, msgs) is losing 5 7/8, or 6.5 percent, to 84 7/8. After Monday's closing bell, the Sunnyvale, Calif., data storage firm reported pro forma first-quarter net income of $32.3 million, or 9 cents per share, up from last year's profit of $13.5 million, or 4 cents per share, and a penny ahead of the average estimate of analysts polled by First Call. Revenue rose 124 percent in the latest three months to $231.2 million from $103.3 million in the same period a year earlier.
