John and Thread,
Hello from New Hampshire from my NEC MobilePro 770! ____________________________________________________________________
First, a little anecdote. My brother called today and said his boss showed up to work today with a Nikon CoolPix 800. My brother told him he had the same camera and ask how he liked it. He replied that he absolutely loves it. He then pulled out a 48 MB SanDisk (yes, SanDisk) CompactFlash. The part he likes best is the PCMCIA adapter which he plugs into his IBM laptop for viewing. He also said he wasn't really into photography too much until he received the camera as a gift.
NOW HE IS ADDICTED. ____________________________________________________________________
Second, the Intel camera is a low resolution offering. I believe I read that it is a 640 x 480 resolution camera according to the NY Times. I suspect it has only on-board memory. This is an inexpensive entry level digital photography toy that will likely hook a lot of people on digital photography and a subsequent upgrade. ____________________________________________________________________
Third, I read an interesting piece in the Sunday NY Times magazine. It is an interview with the Napster lawyer, David Boies. I laughed out loud, then I cheered when I read the last paragraph...
Ken Kurson (NY Times):
"It amuses me to think of all the kids around us in this bar not knowing that they may end up owing you thanks for preserving their favorite new pasttime."
David Boies:
"I was on an American Airlines flight from L.A. last week, really oversold, not a single free seat-they were paying people to get off. Long story short, it's one mechanical problem after another and we're sitting on the ground for hours. One guy ahead keeps turning around and eyeballing me. He waves and says, 'Hey, aren't you Napster's lawyer?' I tell him I am and he announces, 'Napster's lawyer is on the Plane!'
Everyone in coach cheers.
Right then I knew the record industry was in trouble." ____________________________________________________________________
Last, I think Warren Buffett did lose some money on SanDisk earlier this Spring.
