I think that the sub probably has nukes onboard, and the Russians didn't/don't want us to know it. Those things don't go to sea at all if they aren't carrying the goods. You never know when hostilities might break-out.

Anyway, I think it would be useless for us to get involved at this point. It would take us several days to get the required equipment on-site, and by that time it would be too late for any hope of saving lives. Now if they (the Russians) wanted assistance in raising it...that might be another story (but again, I don't think they want us to have *proof* that nukes are on that boat).

All JMO.
