Ron - American Spectator is a great read but they do tend to mash the facts a little, especially when talking about their favorite Democratic soap opera.

Although I think it is pretty unlikely that Hillary Clinton was named for Edmund Hillary, Edmund did not just decide one day in 1953 to quit gathering honey and instead mount a successful campaign to be first to climb the world's tallest mountain. He had been climbing since the 1930s (he started at the age of 11) and had a good string of significant climbs in the mid-1940s. According to his biography, before he joined the British Everest team in 1951:

"Although he made his living as a beekeeper, he climbed mountains in New Zealand, then in the Alps, and finally in the Himalayas, where he climbed 11 different peaks of over 20,000 feet. By 1951, Hillary was ready to confront the the world's highest mountain. "
