When people have it drilled into their heads that their "contributions" (read taxes) - are for the good of all, yet see the corporate and liberal elite living the good life while many working poor receive nothing from the Government except substandard public education, and you get the results you expounded on. People who have been dumbed down by the system and feel they can change things by not voting are a result of the politicians' power base. If people realized how much of their money goes to taxes at all levels, Fed income, SS, medicare, unemployment, State, County, City, sales, excise, those who claim the Europeans pay more taxes than us are full of beans. Money talks, and sooner or later, the working poor will realize that the Democrat policies haven't helped them in the past 40 years and vote for a change.knc
