Gays should have the ability to exercise their right to be free of discrimination in the workplace and the military and to have recognized marriages. Gay couples should be able to enjoy the same legal rights as married heterosexual couples. And probably a few more I haven't thought of at the moment.

There are rights, protected under the Constitution, that were never extended to people of color until the last few decades. Gays have been oppressed under the same exclusionary atmosphere and are still excluded in some areas.
