John, RE: I've also noticed that Intel's relative volatility seems to have decreased since it's addition to the Dow Industrials. To give you some factual backup, the most recent weekly volatility of INTC was 28.5. A year ago this time it was 35.5. OTOH, going further back than 1 year, and you find volatility closer to the current level. So rather than the addition to the Industrials cutting back volatility, it seems to have just taken it back to its historical norm from last year's aberrant high number. Unfortunately, I have no idea how the heck any of us can use the above data to make any money.
