Agree with you on DEEPWATER but I think it may be getting closer. I get a daily E-mail from RIGZONE on new permits/plans submitted for the GOM. For quite a while, most of them were for shallow water plays. I've noticed recently a definite trend towards more deepwater permits/plans. Todays report really accentuated that. The four listed were for depths of 8196 8351 3341 7072. The 7072 was for UCL in a Walker Ridge block that they plan to spud early next month. The 8196 and 8351 (now that is really deeeep) are also Walker Ridge with MRO as operator and start-up planned for 4th qtr.

Know what is most ridiculous about the API's? That they exist at all. What is the point of issuing voluntary reports from a industry lobbying group followed eighteen hours later by mandatory reports from a government agency? How could that create anything but confusion? Go away, API. Stick to button-holing Congress about opening up the ANWR.
