NETP the leading company in a new category: Personalized Customer Relations Management - pCRM.

Intentional Reality of RB echoes my own remarks on the "web seminar" on 18th August - in which NETP for the first time refers to itself as being in CRM. He believes it is a decisive new positioning and welcomes it. I would like to see if this was just a slip of the tongue by NETP or a considered PR decision. If the latter I welcome it.

This was my post to Intentional:

I like that NETP is saying what it is as opposed to what it is not. I like that it is using a category that the market understands. I am fairly comfortable with the long term sustainability of investor and market interest in CRM.

BUT the choice of CRM as the master category (or genus) with personalization as the sub-category (or species) may signal that NETP is drawing back from trying to open up new markets where NETP finds applications which are not necessarily CRM.

I especially mean Knowledge Management. As AUTONMY is showing there is a huge market in research and in government supplies and in education. Those applications do not easily fit into the rubric of CRM.

However, it might simply be that they have been advised to accept an imperfect category for the sake of clarifying their main focus now. As Knowledge Management develops it can be a stand-alone division of NETP. In its PR NETP can say it is the leader in pCRM and Knowledge Management. Nothing wrong with that.

I think its claim to be leader in pCRM is enhanced by (a) the ASP Personalization Network including the Personalization Manager which is to be released in 4Q (b) the imminent announcement (in my view) that it now offers a complete platform or set of enterprise wide solutions in pCRM.
