I don't necessarily see the two issues as being linked.

Your assumption seems to be that homosexuals were never in the military to begin with. I believe that assumption is invalid. Homosexuals have served with honor in the military for a long time. Therefore, don't ask, don't tell simply allows them to serve without intruding deeply into their lives, and at the same time takes into consideration the cohesiveness of the troops who find the behavior distasteful.

Why should I know if you're a homosexual, heterosexual or beastialogist? (which by the way, someone in the west wing seems to enjoy watching)

What I find amusing in the tenor of your post is the assertion that people other than homosexual practice biblical pure sex or something. The donkey shows on the borders of Mexico were not started by a bunch of puritan christian soldiers. What's more sick, a bunch of drunk soldiers watching a donkey do an 18 year old whore, or two women engaging in cunningless?

And I won't even bother to describe some of the "normal heterosexual" behavior in the Barrio's of the Phillipines and other places.

Oh, and please... don't EVEN try and pretend senior military personal haven't attended those places and promoted them culturally as some kind of "passage to man-hood" or something.

What I believe you're really saying is does homophobia exist in the military? And you've aswered that question rather well. It certainly does exist. However, that doesn't make it right.
