HERNDON, Va. -- Savvis Communications Corp. (SVVS), Winstar Communications Inc. (WCII) and Bridge Information Systems Inc. formed a wide-ranging partnership to provide broadband network and information services.
In a press release Tuesday, Savvis said Winstar will purchase about $50 million in Savvis network services and facilities over the next five years.
Winstar and Savvis will pool their resources and joint buying power to develop their networks in Europe, accelerating Winstar service deployment and boosting its customer reach.
In a separate agreement, Savvis will deploy Winstar OC-3 access to provide broadband connectivity to 500 U.S. financial buildings.
This right of use arrangement, valued at about $200 million over 10 years, will speed Savvis' ability to provide Internet, intranet and extranet services to its customers, while also reducing the cost of building connectivity.
In addition, broadband service provider Winstar said it has agreed to use its sales force and online business center, Office.com, to distribute Bridge's financial information products.
Winstar and Bridge will co-develop and private-label additional financial products and content.
Bridge will also license targeted online content from Winstar's Office.com, and BridgeNews and Office.com will create sector-specific content packages.
