Globalstar Broadcast TV

Does anyone know if it is possible to continuously broadcast on ONE 1.25Mhz channel of the G* network? Assume that you didn't care about the uplink on that channel but you did want to continuously broadcast to as wide a footprint as possible. How big could that footprint be? Can the satellite broadcast like this?

If the above is possible. Would it then be feasible to broadcast compressed video? I've seen very good real time and delayed compression techniques. Good enough to get several channels of NTSC quality video on that 1.25Mhz channel. Might even be able to fit up to 22 channels on a single 1.25Mhz channel depending on the technique! Perhaps could even use HDR in the data broadcast? On the receiver end you would need a device that received the signal, decompressed it, and then displayed it.

This in essence could turn your local service provider telco into a broadcast multimedia station. Of course somebody would have to build the receivers/decoders/display device. But it could be anywhere, anytime cable like TV!

Haven't put much thought in to this so I'm sure I've missed some reason why it won't work. Please shoot holes at will.

Also, here's another idea for a commercial.

American Express - G* combo ad. TV Spot. Nice shot showing couple/kid renting gear (mules, bikes, cayaks,?). Cut to exquisite view in isolated spot pan to see renters checking in on kids/calling parents. Announcer. "The American Express card and Globalstar - Don't leave home without them." Every G* phone rental using American Express gets 20% discount. Deal runs till End of Year.

No idea if AmEx would sign up for it, but, G* could cover rental expense up to 10%, rental shops could cover rest. American Express takes 20% on all rentals till end of year for including G* in advertising.
