On ABC's "Good Morning America," Charles Gibson asked Lynne Cheney whether the Republicans were "really an open, compassionate, tolerant party." On CNN, Wolf Blitzer asked Sen. Bill Frist (R., Tenn.) about "that very, very strong, total, against-all-odds, abortion provision."
These are fair questions. But they are unfairly asked of only one party. Does anyone even know the Democratic plank on abortion?
As ratified this week, the 2000 platform asserts that "the Democratic Party stands behind the right of every woman to choice, consistent with Roe v. Wade, and regardless of ability to pay." Translation: taxpayer-funded abortion on demand. Is there a more extreme pro-choice position?
