what is the marginal difference between a guy who successfully doubled down $1 on black 12 times and a guy who walks up to the table for the first time and bets $4096? if the casino will accept one bet then they will accept the other.

I agree with the above and the rest of your post, but I was just saying that there is presumably SOME point (a lot higher than $4096, a lot lower than $275 Billion) at which they will have to say, "party's over, buddy".

They probably do treat most of the big winners nicely, as long as it's not someone in the blackjack pit that seems to always have a little (cardcounting) edge..
