Thanks Peggylynn for filling in some of the gaps on my cc notes. All in all, my take on the cc was very satisfying. Not a peep about the EdgeDirector woes which are now history. I did not detect any negative tones from any of the analysts. On the contrary, everone seemed quite pleased with Ciena's stellar performance. I expect the upgrades, and target revisions to begin pouring in. It looks to me like the CoreDirector is even exceeding my optimistic expectations. I expect the CD to become the company's flagship product. Ciena clearly has the market and technology lead in switching. Metro doing very well, with Ciena claiming technology leadership. More attention to Ciena's ultra long-haul developments will no doubt take some of the wind out of Corvis' sails. Component shortages appear to have no, or little effect on Ciena, but may well hurt the startups with no real long-standing relationships. Ciena's expertise in ASIC design will continue to help lead the industry in technology advancement and cost reduction. OC-192 is the new performance level. Demand is very high, but sales of OC-48 equipment is still robust. Ciena's intelligent software appears to be making excellent progress. Software will become increasingly more important as the bandwidth needs to be managed effectively in order to maintain QoS and cost effectiveness. Jack Hutchison
