"I know many successful blacks who confide in me that they still feel oppressed because of the way they are treated by some of the police, employees at certain stores, the response in certain neighborhoods, the quality of attention they receive by some bank loan officers, etc."
Terry this is practically meaningless. There are grumpy people everywhere. Some people just don't feel like putting on a happy face and saying "have a nice day" to everyone they meet. Unless there were strong evidence of oppression, like the person actually stating that they were behaving in a rude manner to make you suffer; we have no way of knowing whether their attitude is race based, hemorrhoids, lack of sleep, fight with spouse etc. There are also plenty of people who use the race card to intimidate other people into giving them service that is above the norm. When their intimidation fails they claim oppression. You simply choose to take the view that discrimination is the only criteria on which to base treatment. Why is that?
