This is incorrect and misleading, do not repeat
paul's propaganda.

AMD publishes highest possible
power consumption numbers for the worst case -
90C case, special worst-case CPU execising software.
None of the known applications get even close to
80% of the specified power parameters even for a
millisecond. It is done to ensure solid board
design.

Intel instead publishes a joker's spec, where they
contradict themselves - when max power is just
about the same as "typical" power. There is a
couple of amateur's software ("BURNP6" and BURNBX")
by Robert Redelmeier ( redelm@ev1.net ). It can
run CPU at 40% higher power than it gets on the
heaviest SPEC-95 FPU calculations (which are among
the heaviest power consumers). There were numerous
reports of Coppermine overheating during continuous
game play on Usenet groups. Just take a look a recent
message about HP machines with side blower. Also look
at recent development of all-copper-made heat sinks
exclusively for coppermines and willamettes,
reported on some Japanese web site few month ago.
