Since Intel folk have explicitly stated that the ALUs are at 3GHz (on the 1.5GHz demo, I mean), it would be a class-action lawsuit issue over a complete lie, not just an obfuscation of the truth.

But I sincerely doubt that what you suggest here will be the case. However, it is possible (as ... aargh, I forgot who it was that mentioned this) that Intel could give up on the FCLK on the P4, perhaps deeming it less of an advantage and too much of a liability.
