hello! there's a big difference between now and July '98 - we had a simmering crisis going on back then - nothing like that now. BUT there are signs that Asia is once again subject to stresses...many peripheral currencies (Thai baht, Indian rupiah, Philippine peso to name the most glaring examples) have collapsed again. but it hasn't yet reached the stage of worry...it's not the same set of circumstances. the best hope for the bears is that recently ignored negatives suddenly come to the fore...but it's a coin toss if they will do so.
