Lennox: No Lewis-Holyfield III

Lennox Lewis has been reported as saying he will not face Evander Holyfield a third time. Lewis said, "How many times do I have to beat him before he accepts that he is no longer a threat?" The WBC/IBF/IBO champion said Holyfield is now a "fringe player" in the heavyweight picture and should retire before he gets hurt. Lewis' promoter Panos Eliades also stated that Holyfield will not get a third shot at Lewis.

Tua; Lewis to clash Nov. 11

After a long night of talks in New York, a deal has been struck between representatives of heavyweight champion Lennox Lewis and #1 challenger David Tua for a November 11 collision in Toronto or Las Vegas. The bout will be televised on TVKO pay-per-view. Tua's promoter Dan Goossen told USA Today's Dan Rafael that Tua will receive $3.5 million plus a share of the PPV take. Lewis' is looking at a payday of around $10 million. A purse bid, scheduled for today at IBF headquarters was averted. Lewis, who wants to play a more active role in his affairs, announced that co-promoters Main Events and Panix Promotions will report to Lennox Lewis Enterprises, Lennox Lewis president.

Tyson-Golota talks progress

Although nothing is signed yet, the crossroads superfight between former heavyweight champion Mike Tyson and longtime contender Andrew Golota looks promising for October 20 or possibly for November 4. The fight would likely take place in Detroit and be broadcast on SET pay-per-view.
