Nice to see Cognos get some good press in WSJ. One big error in the article though: Cognos was never a management consulting company. They were a 4GL application development tool company. That business is still a small part of their revenues (<10%).

Cognos is a winner, but BRIO is a much better buy at this point. BRIO has 18% of the market apparently. This and their small current market cap makes them a potential takeover candidate. If COGN or BOBJ took them over they would become the dominant BI tool vendor.
