Analyst Meeting - Technology

I was disconnected for about 10-15 minutes (otherwise I listened to the whole day webcast). The part missed was about future technology. The Chief Technical officer was talking about a "heads up" product - and describing how the vendor gets a view of the web site screen which gives him all the critical marketing information he needs in real time - and there is no need for time consuming, hard copy reports.

I am not clear if this "Heads Up" was the same product as the "Personalization Manager" which is to be introduced in 4Q. The PM is the equivalent of the "Campaign Manager" sold by EPNY and others. It is the coordinating lynch pin for the Personalization Network. Part of the reason for its introduction is that potential customers want things as easy as possible and they want a "manager" to put the pieces together. For the first time NETP will incorporate a new rules-based technology to augment its collaborative filtering technology.

- the main theoretical point made about technolgoy was that NETP has developed it to the highest possible degree and no new breakthroughs can be expected: the next stage of development is to make what they have more easily applicable: after that, the task is to apply it to an increasing number and variety of problems and markets:
