Buy and hold, eh?

I can see why you are concerned.

Did you ever notice that that advice is fed to us all the time.

Peter Lynch advertises for Fidelity that investing for the long term is a matter of YEARS. That's advice for YOU, not them. Do you see many of the big players doing that anymore?

Yeah, sure. How much and how fast does technology and a companies prospects change? Xerox isn't the same investment as 10 years ago.

We have been conditioned by market forces and taxes to think "buy and hold", while the people telling you that do no such thing.

It's like Blackjack books where they tell you to always split Aces and Eights - fools plays if ever there was one. Think about it. For a marginal % on the odds they get you to DOUBLE your bet - with YOUR money! If you had unlimited hits to those Aces, it would be a different story. You don't do that too, do you?

Who do you think writes those "expert" Blackjack books? Vegas loves it.
