BT, we had an asymptotic, parabolic, exponential discussion a few years ago, in regard to QUALCOMM. The posts fizzled out to zero, which was the asymptote for the number of posts on the matter. I just thought, since Gregg used the expression again, it would be fun to draw another parallel between the Holy War days of QUALCOMM and the current drama of Globalstar.

Even this venerable SI stream has now got many of the old cast who followed QUALCOMM through the second half of the 1990s in Silicon Investor.

I have only one question about Globalstar and that is a fast market-clearing price for voice minutes. I know it's above 30c a minute but suspect it's below $1.

The advertising is tending to be 'How our Globalstar saved our hide on our hike up the Yukon'. Which is, to me, not too bad a strategy, because as with cellphones, many people first found out how much they needed it after they put it in the glove box for a rainy day. But even on a sunny day they found good cause to start yakking. Once people get their paws on a Globalstar phone, they'll make a few calls.

I think we have another downward movement to make in minute prices to get things moving fast enough [to maximize our NPV].
