Hi David..."Got all the scars to prove it."

Bet I've got more than you <VBG>!!!

"We may both figure out that the best methods revolve around the standard indicators that are included in the mid priced sw packages ie:ma's, stochastics, rsi, etc, etc.. But the way I look at it someone had to come up with these at some point. When they did they were probably considered revolutionary. Who knows what we might find or stumble into too. Not to mention this is probably the most enjoyable part of TA for me even if it is just an excuse to exercise the synaps.

More truth in that statement than anybody may realize. Could be one of the reasons why I'll never buy TS. MS has all the indicators & more. And a better price. Adv. Get would be the better choice in that $ range. Does things TS wants to do when it grows up...

OK, Mr. Questions <G>. Looks like I might have confused you a little bit. SC will do simple "if-then" statements. Now that I think about it I haven't tried to nest any so I'll give it a try sometime this weekend and let you know. "Do-while" I've never tried either but I don't think so. It's not documented anywhere. Maybe TS can but I can't open any TS code to see. None of the TS code I've seen has used it. SC will do recursive operations. As will MS. Variables...SC won't let me declare them at the beginning of the code like TS. Some variables are just "inputs" which SC can do. Eg.) the "fastend" & "slowend" in the AMA indicator. The TS code had them as variables, I coded them as inputs in SC. More complex indicators will require more than one "user function". User functions are like variables. They perform an operation which can then be acessed in another user function or indicator. MS will do this too with the "fml" function.

So, I guess we need to know exactly what you what to do. Besides recursive operations. And that's a big handicap for WOW. Spreedsheets will let you do them but I've found data updating to be the reason I don't use them much. Guess I'm lazy but I don't want to update an Excel sheet (or 100 of them) everynight. Q+ is so automatic that I've been spoiled <G>. On the Visual Basic... I'm nowhere near an expert on that yet. Still learning it a little at a time. I've been doing it systematically from the beginning so I don't miss anything important. It has charting capibilites but I've refrained from jumping ahead. It also has database capabilities and with Q+'s DLL to read the data should be able to pull off the most esoteric type of things I might what to try in the future. Not to mention...really cool custom windows interfacing <GG>. If you know C or C++ you might look into Visual C++.

Better stop here and let you get back to that paper that's due in July... If you have more questions or comments, ask away. Put it in e-mail if you perfer.
