Right on! We are much less of a color blind society under democratic leadership. They talk affirmative action because it creates a constituency of need. What if everyone had equal opportunity? wouldn't we be stronger if everyone had equal opportunity and could rise to their level of highest competence? Why can't we be colorblind and gender blind and just look at qualifications. (skill, desire, intelligence, dedication, character) The best man or woman for the job. When you promote based on race or gender you automatically lower the standards. Allow everyone to participate but choose in order of qualifications. That seems fair to me. Include me being included in that process. I wouldn't want nor expect to be promoted over or given a slot just because I am whatever. The most qualified person should get that slot. That doesn't mean we shouldn't expose, train and encourage everyone to rise to the highest level they possibly can. But, qualifications should be the deciding quality. And, that includes President. Gore is disqualified on character, leadership skills. I don't know how intelligent he is. He definitely has the desire or ambition. But, leadership, character and big government values disqualify him for me. Bush seems to have excellent leadership skills. (Surrounds himself with highly qualified people) Not over ambitious for the job but ready to take it and handle it. He has been upfront with the good and bad of his life. Seems to have a handle on truth and character, may not be a brain surgeon but the leadership and team building skills he possesses far offset that. Dedication to worthwhile purpose of inclusion and rebuilding national pride, respect for the office, etc. will happen with Bush. Sorry to ramble but I can't see why everyone wouldn't want better leadership.
